Showcase Slovenija

Maribor Museum of National Liberation

Temporary exhibition / 15.12.2021 - 29.06.2022

The show Showcase Slovenija (https://val202.rtvslo.si/vitrina-slovenija/) was inspired by the anniversary of our country. The first show saw the light of day on December 26, 2020, and will end the same day a year later, on Independence and Unity Day.

In the first part of the series, the interlocutors spoke sparklingly, sincerely and critically about 1990, Slovenia's independence, trust in people, ideas, successes, courage, uprightness, history and future. As our country is based on courage and rebellion, new sequels followed in the spring of 2021, in which the author of the series, journalist Tatjana Pirc, dedicated herself to Slovenian rebels, uprisings, strikes and protests from 1988 to the present. Conversations with many guests, who do not appear very often in the media, took place in the radio program Val 202 and in the episodes of the podcast Stories until the end of June 2021. On October 25, when we celebrate Sovereignty Day, dr. Boris Žnidarič recalled how the last soldier of the Yugoslav army left Slovenian territory. All those who participated in the Showcase Slovenia project also chose exhibits and items that have great symbolic significance for them. The showcase Slovenia with exhibits will be displayed on 15 December 2021 in the Museum of National Liberation Maribor.
The author of the Vitrina Slovenija series, journalist Tatjana Pirc, said: “If we look at what the interlocutors who participated in the project told us in one year, we find that Vitrina Slovenija has become an extensive collection of memories, exhibits and wise thoughts. about past, present and future. That is why I am glad that the radio and online showcase Slovenia will now become a real museum showcase, which will be on display to visitors at the Museum of National Liberation in Maribor. "
