Cveta Mirnik: Costume Designer and Her World
Cveta Mirnik (1951–2021) designed more than forty-five costumes for Slovene theatres, as well as for film and television; she worked in the theatres of Celje, Nova Gorica, Maribor, Ptuj, and at the Ljubljana City Theatre and the SNT Drama Ljubljana. Her dedication to her work is also evident in costume design sketches that were never realized on stage. The exhibition will present costume design sketches from the collections of the Intermunicipal Public Library Žalec and the Slovenian Theatre Institute, as well as costumes designed by Cveta Mirnik for the Slovensko narodno gledališče Nova Gorica.

The exhibition at the Slovene Theatre Institute is part of the inter-institutional project Cveta Mirnik: Costume Designer and Her World, carried out in collaboration with the Intermunicipal Public Library Žalec and ZKŠT Žalec Institute for Culture, Sport and Tourism. The project also includes an exhibition taking place from 26 March to 8 May 2026 at the Savin's art salon Žalec (exhibition author and curator: Alenka Domjan), a travelling exhibition, and a joint exhibition catalogue.
